The curriculum is the totality of pupils’ learning experiences. It is the vehicle by which we inspire learning and develop the essential knowledge, skills and understanding which are the building blocks for later life. The curriculum encompasses not only the formal requirements of the National Curriculum and Strategies but also the range of extra-curricular activities that the school organizes, in order to enrich the experience of the children. The curriculum is enhanced by our commitment to Value Education. At ESK, we provide learning experiences which promote confident, self-disciplined pupils, eager for lifelong learning.
At ESK, our curriculum is underpinned by the values that we hold dear. The curriculum is the means by which the school achieves its objective of educating children in the knowledge, skills, and understanding that they need in order to lead fulfilling lives.
The curriculum is planned to inculcate the Core Values of ESK in all its students.
Aims and objectives
The aims of our school curriculum are:
Organisation and planning
We plan our curriculum in three phases. We agree with a long-term plan for each year group. This indicates what topics are to be taught in each term based on the Cambridge Cat each phase. We review our long-term plan on an annual basis.
Our medium and short-term plans, give clear guidance on the objectives, teaching strategies, and assessment for learning that we use when teaching each area of the curriculum.
